Several times in the last year or so, I have joked with my husband that I need to start a blog where I can say whatever I want without worrying who I might offend. Those who know me well, know that I am a strong conservative with deeply held convictions on a lot of topics. I try really hard not to spout off about my views beyond my inner circle. It’s hard! In our time, politics has become such a divider that I don’t want to offend someone before they have a chance to get to know me. I am very involved in my local church, and the last thing I want is to cause someone to leave or never come to church at all because my political views don’t align with theirs. It’s a ridiculous concept, but unfortunately, that’s where we are in America today. The time has come. The joke has become a reality and I am starting a blog, so I can spout off whenever I want.
Let’s start with this: How did Donald Trump get elected? I think one of the most fascinating and entertaining things on election night was watching most of the main-stream media be completely flabbergasted and blind-sided by Donald Trump’s victory. They just didn’t get it. They still don’t. Liberals don’t get it either. They cannot see beyond the vacuum they have created to house their totally self-focused ideology. They really believe that all intelligent people think like they do. The biased members of the media really believed that Donald Trump could not be elected. When they were proven wrong, then they had to chase election meddling schemes for a few years, rather than admit that at least half of America just doesn’t identify with them. The folks on the coasts do not understand the folks in the flyover zone. Thank God for the electoral college. Can you imagine what would happen if elected officials only needed to appeal to the needs of the most populated areas of the country?
I’ll tell you how he got elected. All over America, there are people just like me; people who were thinking about the Supreme Court. One more justice with a liberal agenda and we could kiss our religious liberties goodbye. Supreme Court justices last a lot longer than presidents and I was going to vote for whomever I believed would select justices who were constitutionalists. All over America, there are people just like me who are sickened by the 60 million abortions in United States since 1973 and further sickened by the more recent agenda to allow the choice to end your baby’s life right up until birth and beyond. I would vote for anyone committed to ending that atrocity. All over America, there are people just like me who believe in American ingenuity and were totally disgusted when Barack Obama tried to convince us that manufacturing jobs in America were a thing of the past and a flat economy was the new normal. All over America, there are people just like me who are sick of lying, self-serving career politicians who have done nothing for the American people. We have had it! Donald Trump may be crass, and I really wish he would tweet a little less, but I don’t care. I don’t have to like his personality. I voted for him because I believed he would get things done. I believed he would actually take action on border security and rotten trade deals.
It is mind boggling how he has managed to accomplish so much in the face of constant criticism and distraction: Two excellent Supreme Court justices in Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, massive improvements in border security, hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs, the lowest Black and Hispanic unemployment levels in our history, a booming economy that continues to thrive despite Coronavirus shutdowns, standing up to China, a peace agreement between Israel and United Arab Emirates. The list goes on.
Americans just like me see through the daily crap-show of the main-stream media and see what is really going on. He is doing what we elected him to do. We may not be out there shouting it from the street corner because we don’t want to deal with the backlash from the “tolerant” left, but we will show up on Election Day. Our liberty is at stake and we know it. We are watching as more and more people give up freedoms for the sake of what they think is safety and security. We are watching as more and more people think “Democratic Socialism” sounds like it might be good idea. We, the silent majority, may be quiet right now but we will vote. We will defend the greatest nation on earth from the attack within. Don’t tread on us.
